Driving Lessons
Lessons with ATLAS can be taken in a way that suits the individual learner - tailored to their needs, but following a structured plan to take them to the standard required for the UK driving test. This ensures that the test can be taken with the minimum number of tuition hours.
You decide on the way that you want to learn to drive; we can create a plan that suits your requirements. There is no obligation to commit to any advance bookings if you prefer to take things one lesson at a time.
Be wary of any person/company who pushes you to prepay for lessons!
Lesson lengths can be varied according to requirements.
More than one lesson per week can be taken by those that wish to do so, if there is availability.
Intensive courses may also be available if you want to be able to take your test in a shorter timescale.
The Practical Driving Test
ATLAS Motoring School will train learner drivers to a standard that meets or exceeds the requirements of test examiners.
The practical driving test takes place on public roads in typical road and traffic conditions and lasts about 40 minutes. It is designed to see if the candidate can drive safely, knows the Highway Code and can demonstrate this through their driving.
The test begins with an eyesight check (if the candidate fails the check, the test will not continue).
During the test, the candidate is examined on their general driving and on a reversing exercise.
They may also be asked to do an emergency stop.
The examiner will also ask the candidate to carry out some set exercises.
The examiner is looking for an overall safe standard of driving.
Candidates can make up to 15 driving (minor) faults and still pass the test - but over 15 faults will result in the test being failed.
If one serious or dangerous fault is committed, the candidate fails the test.
